The stay

A timber-and-stone chalet under the Mont Blanc massif, with a fire that is always lit, a hot tub in the snow, and the Aiguille du Midi filling the window.

Chamonix is the original alpine legend, and this chalet sits right under it. Ski days end at the door; the boot room is warm, the fire is going, and someone has left a bottle open. There is a sauna for the aches, a hot tub for the stars, and long tables for dinners that run until midnight. When the snow falls, it falls thickly, and the whole valley goes silent and white.

In the morning, the Aiguille du Midi turns pink before the sun reaches the valley floor. You watch it from bed, coffee in hand, in no hurry at all.
